It's a good thing for the heroes of The Day After Tomorrow (though arguably a bad thing for cinema-viewers everywhere) that they didn't try to seek refuge in the Physical Sciences section of the Radcliffe Science Library. As chilly as it is in here now, a bit of a cold snap and we'd be swimming in nitrogen liquefied from the air. And I know at least [livejournal.com profile] thalassius would join me in my dismay if it had become Emmy Rossicle

The Lankester Room must be saved! It has pretty pretty books on history of science. And a whole bunch of Ambix, plus PhilTrans and other Royal Society proceedings. Do not under any circumstances start burning these books. Especially not anything by Allan Chapman, Steven Shapin, John Roche, Robert Fox or Patricia Fara.

I believe there's a whole stack of Oxford Chemistry Primers that probably make good fuel . . .

If the heroes of The Day After Tomorrow took refuge in the RSL, you'd *never* get any work done. You might not freeze to death, though ;)

Speaking of which, you might want to check out the cast list for Phantom of the Opera (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293508/).

[livejournal.com profile] midnightmelody, the History of Science books are safe as long as there are still books left in the upper floors. After that we could burn the bookshelves, and by which time the Devil would have arrived to take up residence in Wadham and all the ice would have thawed.
