Oct. 5th, 2004 03:42 pmThe inspiration for this post is that I've just done my first actual science as part of my D.Phil., checking the calibration on some electrical stuff. The multimeter I was using for this purpose is manufactured by a company called 'Fluke'. Perhaps not the best sign for the future!
While I'm here, general other stuff: I have become one of the Evil Ones. A cyclist in Oxford. Complete with the traditional disregard for traffic laws - what is accomplished by a cyclist waiting for the light to change before making a left turn? Or, indeed, before carrying straight across a right-facing T-junction? Curiousity clamours for the answer.
Am off now to be welcomed to the department with a physics party. Don't all clamour for invitations at once.
