This is possibly the most bizarre thing I've seen in a year or more, but oddly riveting.

The Brick Testament, the Bible as acted out in Legos. I particularly recommend the section on 'the Law'.

Back from Paris - my presentation went reasonably well, I think. Got some positive comments, and not just from people I'd already made friends with! Otherwise, am currently trying to organize our second-round match in the ICQ, heading back to work tomorrow morning and trying to read Faulkner's 'As I Lay Dying'. I'm not really loving the dialect - I'm sure it gives an authentic impression of Southern speech, but it's still difficult to read.

Oof, luck with the Faulkner. It it accurate...in a small section of the south 50 years ago, in a certain demographic. You could probably find some people still using it, but most southerners speak far more understandably. They just don't put us on television. But heck, you were with me in Alabama some odd years ago, and neither of us could speak the language! ;)

That's a fair clarification - I didn't mean to suggest that everyone from the Mason-Dixon line south spoke the same way! Not sure I'll be able to motivate myself to finish it. It's well written, but the story itself is pretty dull - dysfunctional family check, Pharisitical Christian check, unhappy marriage, infidelity check.. I've a suspicion there's some incest coming up too.

The Lego Bible is the most disturbing, yet brilliant thing I've seen in awhile. Thus far I've had the most fun spotting the various kinds of depravity in the first scene from the Flood. (I don't know what Jar Jar Binks is doing in the background--I think he's just existing--but honestly, isn't that enough to qualify?)
