In reference to this news story, about Ted Kennedy attempting a water rescue of a fisherman, and particularly in response to the initial poster's comment 'Good thing there wasn't an overturned car at the bottom', Wile E at the Straight Dope Message Board says:

"To be fair, Ted is a different man than he was all those years ago at Chappaquidick. For instance, now he could be used as a floatation device"
